This course is specially designed to cover the most important topics related to cause work. We start with the specifics of the civil sector and the social economy and the main communication objectives of cause-related activities. Through practice, we will teach you how to think and plan your communication, strategize your main messages to reach your desired audience. We delve into the world of information and the proper handling and creation of content and we will unravel and get to know the main tools and digital communication channels. The cherry on top of the course is storytelling - the most important tool in the deck of cause communicators.

What knowledge and skills will you acquire?

During the training you will develop sensitivity and knowledge about the work of causes, you will see examples and stories of civil society organizations and social entrepreneurs. You will be able to distinguish between business and social speaking.

You will learn techniques to properly target different audiences, including beneficiaries, donors and funders, etc., and to create communication messages that inform, engage and motivate.

The course will introduce you to ethical standards for working with sensitive groups and data, as well as approaches to building a positive digital image of your organization through the formation of a mission, vision and goals, and other branding elements. You'll gain practical knowledge for crafting a comprehensive vision and strategy for digital positioning, including digital storytelling that empowers and engages diverse groups.

You will also learn about the main communication channels and tools available to NGOs, understand the principles of journalism and learn how to create authentic stories through observation, research and information selection. You will have the opportunity to try and get tips from the speakers.

Ivan Radev
Ivan is a member of the Board of the Association of European Journalists-Bulgaria and head of the project "Media Literacy in the Classroom". He has more than 10 years of experience as a journalist. Ivan has a degree in Balkan Studies from Sofia University and closely follows the development of societies in Southeast Europe. He is fluent in Romanian and for five years was the Bulgaria correspondent for the Romanian national news agency Adjerpres.
